Side pickup condenser microphone with XLR preamplifier, microphone clip, windscreen, zipper case and possibility of changing the condenser capsule. Capsule options include cardioid, supercardioid, bidirectional and omnidirectional polarities.

BETA 181 Applications

The BETA 181 is a multi-purpose instrument microphone capable of covering a wide range of applications including guitars, bass and drums (snare and aerials). It has a total of four different capsules (cardioid, supercardioid, bidirectional, omnidirectional), which can be exchanged depending on the application.

Interchangeable capsule options

The RPM181/C is a cardioid condenser capsule for the BETA 181. The RPM181/S is a supercardioid condenser capsule for the BETA 181. The RPM181/BI is a bidirectional condenser capsule for the BETA 181. The RPM181/O is a condenser capsule omnidirectional for the BETA 181.
 
Applications of the different capsules

The cardioid capsule is perfect for drums, piano and acoustic instruments. These capsules can also be used for M/S stereo pickup (combined with another microphone with a bidirectional capsule).

The supercardioid capsule works well with snare drums, toms, acoustic instruments and close-range miking.

The omnidirectional capsule is ideal for choirs, orchestras and ambient sound recordings. Finally, the bi-directional capsule can be used for recording mono drums or recording two instruments on a single channel simultaneously.

Box contents

The BETA 181 is sold with only one of the four capsules available. If you need any of the other types of capsules, they must be purchased separately.
